chicana/latina testimonios
The Chicana/Latina Testimonio Project was a community memory, research, and archival initiative created in partnership with California State University, Sacramento. Centered on the stories and lived experiences of Stockton Chicanas and Latinas, the project used testimonio to preserve community history, uplift intergenerational knowledge, and document voices often left out of traditional archives and research.
The project also utilized virtual reality (VR) as an innovative storytelling tool, allowing community members to immerse themselves in recreated salas (living rooms) where testimonios were shared and experienced.
Join Our Comunidad
Comunidad is a growing network of Stockton artists, educators, healers, writers, organizers, creatives, and community members who want to collaborate on projects rooted in culture, storytelling, political education, and collective care.
We believe in practicing a solidarity economy by investing resources back into the people, knowledge, and creativity already present in our communities. Through this network, we hope to build relationships and connect with people who may want to facilitate workshops, support events, collaborate on art and storytelling projects, or contribute their skills in meaningful ways.
